The crucified Jesus did not give up on God, and his last words on the cross show us how to be like him. TEN GATHER FOR CONTACT

RETREAT IN NORTH CAROLINA

“Discernment… The Next Step” was the theme of the contact retreat held Dec. 7 to Dec. 9 at the Christian Family Living Retreat Center on N. Topsail Island in North Carolina. Ten men gathered with Fr. John Thompson, main presenter, Bro. Charles Johnson, national vocation director, Ray McCracken (NACMS) and Jessica Sherwen, Marianist Family RetreatCenter in Cape May Point, N.J. The group explored discernment issues and joined in faith sharing, prayer, Eucharist and a question and answer session. Participant Michael Chiuri was appreciative of the advice he received for his future discernment. “Fr. John emphasized that any true vocation is two sided. On one side you have abundant life and on the other you have sacrifice. Whatever path we choose, God will bless us richly if we are true to him,” said Michael. A highlight of the weekend according to Michael was walking on the beach with other contacts and sharing life experiences. “The organization of the retreat was impressive. My sincere gratitude to Bro. Charles for making the retreat possible, to Fr. John, Jessica and Ray for the beautiful content and to Marilynn Shackelford and the staff at Topsail for the comfortable accommodations,” said Michael.

What is the Christian Family Living Experience?

Since the construction of the Christian Family Living Center on Topsail Island in 1988, our vision has been focused on offering Christ-centered programs, activities, community building and playful recreation.  All with the purpose of helping people strengthen family bonds, in other words; living as Christian families.  The fun and relaxation of our beach front living are integrated through our daily themes of Affirmation, Communication, Forgiveness and Commitment.  It is our hope that your family will experience the family bonding and spiritual development that thousands of families have enjoyed. Our 2008 theme for Summer Weeks is:  Invite G.O.D. In.  Your family will be guided by our volunteer servant family team and guest priest. The Eucharist and other family liturgies are complemented by presentations, skits, family sharing, peer groups and fun activities.  There is free time scheduled to enjoy our beach - so plan to join in this unique Christian Family Living Experience. This is the place to find that elusive “quality time” with your family.  Join us at CFL for a Christ-centered week of spiritual growth and old-fashioned fun!
